Тимирязева создан высокоурожайный, крупноплодный сорт боярышника «Тимирязевец», отличающийся от исходной формы высоким содержанием сочной, кисло-сладкой, приятной на вкус мякоти. Кроме того, его плоды при созревании теряют прочность прикрепления к ветвям, что позволяет полностью механизировать наиболее трудоемкий процесс их сбора имеющимися плодоуборочными машинами. Все это дает возможность, учитывая ценность этого растения как важной лекарственной и пищевой породы, ввести его в промышленную культуру. Изучение его хозяйственно-биологических особенностей (зимостойкость, устойчивость к вредителям болезням, засухоустойчивость, наряду с высокой продуктивностью) позволило сделать вполне обоснованный вывод о перспективности использования боярышника сорта «Тимирязевец» в качестве новой плодовой культуры не столько для садоводов-любителей, но и для создания крупномасштабных промышленных насаждений.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>High-yielding and large-fruited sort of hawthorn “Timiryazevets” differing from basic form with high content of rich, sweet-sour, savoury flesh was created in Russian State Agrarian University-Moscow Agrarian Academy named after K.A. Timiryazev. Besides, hawthorn berries during ripening lose their holding power with branches that allows to completely mechanize the most labour-intensive process of its gathering with a help of fruit harvesters. All this enables to introduce hawthorn into industrial culture considering its value as an important curative and nutritive breed.
